Registration and your profile

Q. What is the address of the blog?
A. http://www.topsok0013.com
Note: You may see sandbur-ranch.com in the address bar. Don’t worry. You’re in the right place. For further info, contact me.

Q. How do I register?
Click on “Register” in the navigation bar just below the main picture. You will be prompted to enter a username and password.  Click “Sign up.”
Note: Your username must be in all lowercase. You can set up a nickname later if you would like to capitalize some letters.
You will receive an e-mail to the address you entered in step 1. You will need to activate your account by following the link in the e-mail you received. The page that appears when you follow the link will have your password.
Note: You will also receive another e-mail with your password.
Highlight your password and copy it to the clipboard. Paste your password in the appropriate box.
Note: You can also go to the “Home “page (on the far left side of the navigation bar) and enter your username and password there.

Q. How do I change my information? (password, nickname (displayed name), etc?
A. The password initially assigned to you will be impossible to remember. So, you will want to change it right away.

In the upper right corner, hover over “Howdy, username.” Click on “Edit profile.”

Scroll down to “new password.”

Here, you can change your password and choose a nickname. The nickname is what will display on comments and forum posts.

Be sure to click “Update profile” before you navigate away from the page.

Q. I lost my password and when I try to reset it, I keep getting sent to a page about min pins.

A. This is a bug in the site. If you have trouble logging in or changing your password, please contact me. Click here for more information about the bug.

Navigating the blog

Q. How do I sort posts to find one from a specific category? For example, minutes for a certain meeting?

A. Go to the. There is a heading that says “categories.” Select the desired category and you will see posts from only that category.

 Miscellaneous questions about the site

Q. Why does the url in the address line say “sandbur-ranch.com?”

A. While I was setting up the site initially, I used the sandbur-ranch.com domain to do testing on the site. I have not gotten the site moved to www.topsok0013 yet. For now, I just set the tops domain to redirect to sandbur-ranch.com. When I move the site, some time in the future, there will be no effect on bookmarks to the home page, but bookmarks to other pages may have to change. I will keep you updated when I move it over.

By the way, Sandbur Ranch is what my dad calls his and Mom’s acreage because of the abundance of sandburs in northwest OK and their proliferation in his yard. So, since he lives at Sandbur Ranch, I have nicknamed him the “Head Sticker Picker.”

Q. Why am I sometimes sent to a web site about min pins?

A. Don’t worry: you are not in the dog house 😉 I have min pins, and they have their own blog. (They aren’t spoiled, though.) The TOPS blog and Min Pin Mania.org are linked in the same software. I have had trouble sorting out the two different blogs and will fix these bugs–as soon as I figure out how! For now, please be patient with me and contact me if you have any problems like resetting your password. I may be able to fix the problem in another way.
