Meeting Highlights, 11-7-13

The 11-7-13 TOPS meeting was called to order by Bert.

18 TOPS, 1 KOPS, and 1 visitor, Cecilia Avers, were present.

November state and area newsletters were read by Bert. Here are the highlights:

  • The next Fun Day will be hosted by the Blackwell chapter with the theme “Old Time Movies.” The date is January 25, 2013, and a back-up date, in case of inclement weather, is February 8, 2013
  • The spring Fun Day will be hosted by the Stillwater morning chapter with the theme “Here Comes the Bride.”

The pirate coins were explained in the state newsletter. Different Fun Day activities are worth different amounts of coins. For example:

  • 5 coins for a full costume
  • 3 coins for attending Fun Day
  • 1 coin for
    • Walking 50 miles
    • Exercising 25 hours
    • 90-95 days of keeping food charts
    • Perfect attendance
    • All black (no weight gains) for the quarter

The coins will be handed out at Fun Days until SRD, which is May 23-24 in OKC. “Pirates” is the theme. At SRD, certain items will be available for “purchase” with the coins.

Program: Tammy told us about her encounter with a car jacker and brought it to our attention that bad things happen to real people, even in our small community.

About Jana

I didn't know how much I loved dogs until I brought home my first Miniature Pinscher, Zeus, more than a decade ago. I fell in love with him the minute I laid eyes on him. Even though Zeus is now waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge, I think of him often. Currently, I have two Min Pins, Athena and Nano, who bring love, joy, and lots of energy into our home. My dogs are a big part of my life and are very special to me. I don’t think the human-dog relationship is comparable to any other. Every day is a journey as I learn from them and vice versa. Jana Comer has an M.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. In addition, she is an avid reader of scientific literature and is especially interested in the evolution of dogs, dog genetics, and dog behavior.

  1. Tammy, that was one of the scariest stories that I have ever heard. I’m so glad that you and your family came through it okay. It has definitely made me pay more attention to my surroundings when I am out and about.
