Jan 2 2014 Meeting Highlights

The meeting was called to order by Donna

Darcy called roll
There 14 TOPS and 3 KOPS for a total of 17
There was a loss of 15.75 lbs and a gain of 16 lbs for a net gain of 0.25 lbs.
Patty was the TOPS best loser.
Gayle was the KOPS best loser.
The best fresh weight loser is will be determined at the next meeting.

It was moved and seconded that the base weight used to determine the fresh weight loser would start over each Jan 1st.  The motion carried.

We celebrated Kathy A. achieving KOPS status. We brought 32 items to represent each of Kathy’s 32 lbs lost. Some of the items included 32 peppermints, post-it’s, index cards, pecans, pieces of gum, WiFi antennas, and 29 lbs of carrots (that was all IGA had).

Ali volunteered to keep the exercise/food journal notebook.

The next Fun Day will be Jan. 25th and the cost is $3.00.

For the program, Patty explained her challenge to Oklahoma chapters this year. Patty is challenging each of us to set individual and chapter goals. Examples of chapter goals include increasing the number of chapter members and KOPS and a chapter weight loss goal.

Individual goals could include better health or a weight loss goal.

Discussion about our chapter’s goal included being enticing to new members. One way to accomplish this is to have a program every week. We also discussed making welcome packets for new members. Gayle showed us a welcome packet that we used to hand out in 2001.

The meeting closed with prayer.

About Jana

I didn't know how much I loved dogs until I brought home my first Miniature Pinscher, Zeus, more than a decade ago. I fell in love with him the minute I laid eyes on him. Even though Zeus is now waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge, I think of him often. Currently, I have two Min Pins, Athena and Nano, who bring love, joy, and lots of energy into our home. My dogs are a big part of my life and are very special to me. I don’t think the human-dog relationship is comparable to any other. Every day is a journey as I learn from them and vice versa. Jana Comer has an M.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. In addition, she is an avid reader of scientific literature and is especially interested in the evolution of dogs, dog genetics, and dog behavior.
